  19.   Chart Window Menus
  20.  
  21. Once a chart has been drawn, clicking on its
  22. window with the menu button will present a number
  23. of choices. Some of these are common to all
  24. charts, others are specific to a particular type
  25. of chart. All the actions are summarised below.
  26.  
  27. Common choices
  28.  Some actions are fairly clear. It is possible to
  29. replot the chart in an alternative form by
  30. choosing the new chart format. If pie charts, line
  31. graphs or grouped barcharts are chosen, then you
  32. may choose to plot one or all of the sets. The
  33. barcharts can be toggled between vertical and
  34. horizontal bars as the user wishes.
  35.  
  36. Label
  37.  Following this to the right allows four choices,
  38. viz. New label, Edit label, Display, Delete all.
  39. These options should be self explanatory.
  40.  
  41. New label
  42. ---------
  43.  You can add a maximum of TEN labels. When you
  44. choose "new label" from the graphic menu, a
  45. dialogue box will open. You can add the label text
  46. up to a maximum of one hundred characters. When
  47. the text is displayed on the chart it can be
  48. dragged anywhere in the graph window. If you
  49. double click on any label the dialogue box reopens
  50. for editing.
  51.  
  52. Each label may have up to four font styles, and
  53. supports multi-level super and sub script.
  54.  
  55. BORDER will toggle a border on/off around the text
  56.  
  57. FILLED will toggle the solid background on/off
  58. (useful if the label overlays part of the chart)
  59.  
  60. DELETE will delete that particular label.
  61.  
  62. VERTICAL will toggle the label between normal and
  63. rotated 90°.
  64.  
  65. Edit
  66. ----
  67.  If no labels have been entered, then Edit
  68. will be greyed out, otherwise it will raise the
  69. same dialogue box. If instead of using the menu,
  70. you double click on the label on the chart, the
  71. dialogue box will open set up for that particular
  72. label ready for editing. If more than one label
  73. has been entered, then the arrow buttons at the
  74. top of the dbox will cycle through the labels.
  75.  
  76. Display
  77. -------
  78.  This will simply toggle the DISPLAY of labels on
  79. and off. It will not delete the labels.
  80.  
  81. Delete all
  82. ----------
  83.  This will clear all labels.
  84.  
  85. Print chart
  86.  Selecting this option will print the chart
  87. directly, using whichever printer driver is
  88. installed. The printed output should be the whole
  89. chart as displayed on the screen, but without any
  90. window borders etc. 
  91.  
  92. Make Drawfile
  93.  This option will allow a copy of the chart to be
  94. output to disc as a draw file, which can
  95. subsequently be loaded into !Draw to allow
  96. additional annotation or various enhancements to
  97. be undertaken. The modified chart may then be
  98. printed from !Draw in the normal way.
  99.  
  100.  This option leads to a standard "save as"
  101. dialogue box, and the file may be saved in any of
  102. the normal RISC-OS ways, i.e. by dragging the icon
  103. to a directory display, or, if the full path name
  104. is set up, by simply clicking on OK or pressing
  105. <return>.

  107.  Function key F3 is a short cut for this option.
  108.  
  109. Line and Bar Charts only
  110. ========================
  111.  
  112. Change Axes
  113.  When a chart is first plotted the program selects
  114. automatically the range of the axes and the size
  115. of the index marks along the axis. For barcharts,
  116. it is assumed that the origin (zero) should be
  117. included in the graph, whereas the line graph is
  118. simply plotted over the range of values. The
  119. program chooses round numbers for the range and
  120. indexing along the axes (e.g. a full scale of 2000
  121. rather than 1922.5, with indexing at 400, rather
  122. than 384.5?). The change axes option allows the
  123. user to override to some extent the program
  124. choice, although the algorithm is not completely
  125. overriden, in that round numbers close to the user
  126. entered values may be chosen rather than the exact
  127. values entered! Piecharts always add up to 100%,
  128. so there is no need for any user choice.
  129.  
  130. Piecharts Only
  131. ==============
  132.  In the piechart menu, choosing segments allows
  133. all segments to be `exploded' or returned to
  134. normal.
  135.  
  136.  Note that to explode or return an individual
  137. segment, it is necessary to DOUBLE CLICK on the
  138. segment. If there is more than one piechart on
  139. screen, then the corresponding segment in each pie
  140. will be exploded or returned. More than one
  141. segment can be exploded by double clicking on a
  142. different segment each time. When clicking to mark
  143. a particular segment for canceling, click in the
  144. inner half of the segment to ensure the click is
  145. always registered.
  146.  
  147. Bar Graphs Only
  148. ===============
  149.  Vertical or Horizontal
  150.  This action is self explanatory, the chart may be
  151. toggled between vertical and horizontal format
  152. bars.
